Freight forwarder to fly a large consignment of vital PPE from Shanghai to Saudi Arabia during the global Covid-19 pandemic.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Shanghai > Dammam

Aircraft:  Airbus A340

In addition to negotiating ever-changing travel restrictions, our team had to overcome the logistical challenge of sourcing an aircraft large enough to accommodate the 290 CBM payload. We were concerned about encountering restrictions for charters departing from China, but a permit was secured in good time. The client initially wanted to fly the cargo from Shanghai to Riyadh, however operational restrictions made this impossible so we recommended landing in Dammam instead and quickly secured the relevant paperwork and permissions.

We needed to find an aircraft that could carry a large consignment at short notice, at a time when cargo planes were in high demand around the world due to the pandemic. Our knowledgeable team used their unrivalled industry contacts and managed to source an Airbus A340, which had been recently converted from its passenger configuration to cargo, with enough space for the 290 CMB payload within three hours of the initial request coming in.

THE FINER DETAILS

Global Network: Thanks to our international presence, we were able to mobilise our team in China to help with this charter. They liaised directly with the ground agent there to ensure the cargo was accepted and customs cleared as quickly as possible. Having this local presence helped ensure the cargo was dispatched smoothly and meant we could provide the client with detailed, timely updates on the charter’s progress.
